About This Role
Data Group Inc. is seeking a Cloud Architect to guide architecture decisions, modernization roadmaps, and platform standards across client cloud initiatives. This part-time remote role is designed for a senior practitioner who can assess existing environments, design secure and scalable target states, and work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
This position is fully remote within the United States and follows a flexible part-time schedule with regular u.s. eastern time overlap.
Responsibilities
- Assess current-state environments and define target-state architecture recommendations
- Design scalable, secure, and maintainable cloud solutions for client applications and data platforms
- Create architecture blueprints, migration plans, standards, and implementation guidance
- Partner with engineering and DevOps teams to improve automation, reliability, and release readiness
- Review infrastructure decisions for security, performance, resiliency, and cost impact
- Support cloud governance, access controls, backup strategy, and compliance-minded practices
- Lead technical discussions with client stakeholders and communicate tradeoffs in plain language
- Mentor engineers and contribute reusable patterns, templates, and architecture documentation
Requirements
- 6+ years of cloud architecture or senior cloud engineering experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments
- Strong expertise in cloud networking, IAM, security controls, observability, and resilient architecture patterns
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi
- Experience designing containerized, serverless, or microservices-based platforms in production
- Strong understanding of migration planning, landing zones, backup and recovery, and business continuity considerations
- Experience with Kubernetes or managed container platforms such as EKS, AKS, or GKE
- Ability to produce clear architecture diagrams, decision records, and client-ready technical recommendations
- Experience with cost governance, utilization reviews, and practical cloud optimization strategies
- Professional cloud certification preferred; equivalent hands-on expertise is also valued
- Availability for a consistent part-time schedule with regular U.S. Eastern Time overlap
