About This Role
We are hiring a Data Engineer to design and support reliable data pipelines, warehouse models, and transformation workflows for client reporting and analytics needs. This part-time remote role suits an engineer who is comfortable building production-grade data systems, improving data quality, and partnering with analysts, architects, and business stakeholders across distributed teams.
This position is fully remote within the United States and follows a flexible part-time schedule with regular u.s. eastern time overlap.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery
- Develop warehouse schemas and dbt models that support scalable analytics and reporting
- Implement data quality checks, alerting, and documentation to improve trust in business data
- Optimize query performance, storage usage, and pipeline reliability in cloud environments
- Work with analysts, product owners, and client stakeholders to clarify data requirements and priorities
- Troubleshoot data issues, failed jobs, and schema changes with a focus on root-cause resolution
- Maintain clear documentation for models, sources, lineage, and business logic
- Contribute to practical standards around naming, testing, deployment, and governance
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on data engineering experience in production environments
- Strong SQL skills and professional experience with Python for pipeline, transformation, or orchestration work
- Experience with modern cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Synapse
- Hands-on knowledge of dbt, Airflow, Prefect, Spark, or comparable ETL/ELT tooling
- Strong understanding of data modeling, dimensional design, lineage, and data quality practices
- Experience integrating data from APIs, SaaS platforms, transactional systems, and flat-file sources
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and basic infrastructure, IAM, and storage concepts
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, testing, and observability for data workflows
- Ability to explain technical tradeoffs and data constraints to non-technical stakeholders
- Availability for a consistent part-time schedule with regular U.S. Eastern Time overlap
